GENETICS AND BIOENGINEERING STUDENTS ADVANCE TO THE TEKNOFEST FINALS!
Students of Alanya Alaaddin Keykubat University (ALKÜ) Department of Genetics and Bioengineering Sılanur Özer, İpek Nur Şahinci, Meryem Hemrayeva, Onur Tulay, and İdil Altundaşar have qualified to become finalists in the University and Above Idea Category of the TEKNOFEST 2026 Biotechnology and Innovation Competition with their project titled “Utilization of Biofilm-Based Living Materials for Industrial Waste Treatment Using the Emulsion Templating Method,” developed under the supervision of Dr. Enes Durgut.
The project aims to achieve effective treatment of industrial wastewater using bacterial nanocellulose- and biofilm-based materials. Through the emulsion templating method, the team seeks to develop an innovative composite material with a controlled porous structure, thereby contributing to an environmentally friendly and sustainable wastewater treatment system.
