ASSOC. PROF. ÖZLEM KAPLAN PARTICIPATES IN A TÜSEB A4 FUNDED RESEARCH PROJECT - 2
The project in which Associate Professor Özlem Kaplan, an academic staff member of our department, takes part as a researcher has been awarded funding under the 2026-A4 Group A Research Support Program for Academicians by the TÜSEB (Turkish Health Institutes Presidency).
The project entitled “Development of an Injectable pH-Responsive Imine Hydrogel System Reinforced with Nanosized Layered Double Hydroxides and Investigation of Its Effects in a Rat Excisional Wound Model,” is led by Associate Professor Mehmet Koray Gök. The research team includes Associate Professor Özlem Kaplan from the Department of Genetic and Bioengineering, Faculty of Engineering, Alanya Alaaddin Keykubat University; Assistant Professor Dr. Fatma Yıldız from the Vocational School of Health Services, Alanya Alaaddin Keykubat University; Lecturer Dr. Kevser Bal from Istanbul University-Cerrahpaşa; Professor Dr. Orhan Tansel Korkmaz from Eskişehir Osmangazi University; and Lecturer Dr. Işıl Tan Yılmaz from Dicle University as researchers.
Within the scope of the project, the main objective is to develop a novel injectable and pH-responsive hydrogel system reinforced with Mg-Al based layered double hydroxides for wound treatment applications. The effectiveness of the hydrogel system will be evaluated using a rat excisional wound model, focusing on parameters such as wound closure, histopathological findings, inflammatory biomarkers, and gene expression profiles associated with wound healing. The project is expected to contribute significantly to the development of next-generation biomaterial systems for advanced wound treatment applications.
