Dr. Özlem Kaplan’s Patent Achievement
We are pleased to announce that Research Assistant Dr. Özlem Kaplan, a faculty member of our department, is among the inventors of the patent titled “Branched Poly(β-Amino Ester) Polymers Functionalized with Silane and Amino Acid Terminal Groups and Their Use as Gene Carriers”, registered under the number 2024/014909 by the Turkish Patent and Trademark Office.
The invention, developed through collaborative research conducted at our university and Istanbul University-Cerrahpaşa, focuses on the synthesis and application of multifunctionalized and modified branched poly(β-amino ester) (PBAE) polymers designed for gene delivery purposes. By incorporating silane and amino acid terminal groups, the resulting PBAE structures exhibit enhanced transfection efficiency and improved intracellular targeting capacity. These features contribute significantly to effective gene delivery.
We sincerely congratulate Research Assistant Dr. Özlem Kaplan and her research team on this significant achievement and wish them continued success in their scientific endeavors.
