Genetics and Bioengineering, one of the youngest engineering disciplines, employs engineering principles to solve challenging problems in medicine and biology. The Genetics and Bioengineering (GBE) Program at Alanya Alaaddin Keykubat University (ALKU) was established in 2018. The Genetics dimension of the program combines molecular biology, genetics and biochemistry to understand life at the molecular level and aims to explain how molecular function produces the hierarchy of living cells, tissues and ultimately whole organisms The Bioengineering dimension of the program is based on an understanding of engineering concepts and tools.

The four-year GBE curriculum prepares students for careers in domestic and abroad academia, government agencies, biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies, and agriculture and food industry. The GBE program aims to raise Gene Engineers who have strong  professional knowledge and skills and who are respectful and sensitive to ethical and social issues at local and global level.
